I’m giving thought with merging the “Dooms Day Clock” With “The Founding Fathers; Intolerable Acts”

I’m focusing on the Democrat, Health-Care, Intolerable-Legislation. Who isn’t?

I’m thinking of Setting the Clock at One (1) Minute before Midnight.

At the Stroke of midnight, any and all legislators, who voted for, any one, of The Intolerable Acts, should be Doomed from power by the ghostly presence of the Spirit of 1776.

Moving like a virus spreading through the American populace, as the people become repatriated with their Constitution, inoculated with the spirit of freedom…

Where would you set The Intolerable Clock?

Health-Care, etc..

REBUTTAL: City wants shows more than condos

I haven’t stopped chuckling since reading Mark Flanagan’s column “Signs and center show lack of history” (July 25) but, before I begin, for the readers’ benefit, I would like to make some candid observations.

To start, when you’re a candidate for office you need to deal with the media, and some of us really like to. However, it’s like coming into contact with a strange dog, you may want to shake their paw and offer them a treat, and you do so, at the risk of them biting your hand off, or when you turn and walk, there’s a chance the dog will bite you in the butt! That may explain why Kevin Dumas remains silent! (Give them nothing and they won’t bite, does Kevin think? Or Kevin doesn’t want to let on he has nothing to offer?).

As for myself, I rather enjoy frank discussions. I’m looking forward to the fun and fight of some serious discussions on building a new downtown!

Flanagan’s use of the royal “we” leads me to conclude The Sun Chronicle is just a little biased against this candidate and my plan. First, I can see why The Sun Chronicle would support a condo plan; it’s just a little bit self-serving don’t you think? After all, the proposed condo population stands to increase the paper’s circulation and bottom line! Yes?

But, I’d like to ask with some interest, why have the other candidates been campaigning for about a year unscathed? They’ve had events, kick-offs, photo ops, announcements, constant good press, right? Yes. Strange that I became first to qualify for the ballot, and immediately, The Sun Chronicle slams my proposal for downtown Attleboro the next day! I created a plan, sent it to the paper (thanks for printing it), the mayor, the city council and the ARA. I asked all to debate and consider my proposal. My proposed plan for downtown Attleboro is the overwhelming favorite with the voters! In a short amount of time, I have investigated whether or not the citizens of Attleboro want condos or entertainment. Here’s the shocker: After speaking/polling well over 700 people, their answer, yes, they proclaim, with overwelming support! They want entertainment and business, not condos! This is a large sample polling of the voting public!

Many have said Dumas is turning downtown Attleboro into a ghost town, and I agree with them! That’s why I’m in this race, because it’s what the people want: Entertainment venues! It’s their city and tax dollars! Dumas, is out of touch with the public and the voters!

Dumas and his sidekick, the ARA director, have concocted a fast-track, bogus plan for revitalization! It does nothing! It revitalizes nothing! Dumas plans on spending your hard earned tax dollars and dump them into a plan with three separate phases, for a guesstimated grand total that will far exceed $61 million dollars.

When Dumas says they have grant money, it’s still taxpayer dollars! Dumas’s proposal to build three to 500 condo units, is just a plain stupid fallacy! There are no architectural blueprints for such a complex! Smoke and mirrors for re-election?

Let’s examine, Dumas has fast-tracked this proposal past state officials. On the surface, it looks like a legitimate proposal. The screaming problem! Dumas has put the cart before the horse. He doesn’t even have a developer, nobody, Nada!

Condos are not even selling. Want proof? drive by the ones over on West street, where Roberts Ford use to be, last I heard, they could only sell a couple of units. The remaining foundations protrude from the ground, like a monument to a coming disaster!

If Dumas’s revitalization plan is supposed to be so great for the city; and create a strong economic market, a market The Sun Chronicle endorses, then why on earth is Dumas so eager to stick us with a brand new 3 percent meals tax? Sorry Kevin, something smells here! It’s a bad dish you’re serving!

Since The Sun Chronicle is in such favor of a condo market, I’m willing to compromise. When elected mayor, I will propose to build Attleboro’s first skyscraper, the Reynolds & Markman luxury office-condo complex, to be located on the present site of The Sun Chronicle. Thump!

Guest Column: Let audit of the Fed go forward

An open letter to U.S. Rep. Barney Frank:

Before I begin my comments as to the Federal Reserve Transparency Hearings, I must give credit to you. You have leaped to an historical moment in your willingness to hold hearings on Congressman Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed (HR1207).

That being said, I request of you Mr. Frank as chairman, that you please enter my letter into your committee record.

I have become a student of our U.S. fiat monetary system, based on Keynesian economics. I have also studied the more accurate Ludwig Von Mises’ Austrian economics theories, which predicted our current economic crisis.

It is my hope that when these hearings conclude, that HR1207 is not watered down, but, passed as an exclusive bill. If anything, the auditing process should increase in scope. Following the hearing on C-Span and witnessing the printing of trillions of dollars and creation of credit; the growth of the Fed’s balance sheets and their monetizing our national debt, one can follow that the 1913 dollar was worth a dollar when the Federal reserve was created that year.

Americans should be alarmed that the Fed has failed in its two primary mandates: to maintain the value of the dollar (it is today worth only 4 cents) and to maintain full employment.

As you are aware, our fiat dollar is backed by nothing, as there is no longer a gold standard attached to it. The reason the dollar is now only worth 4 cents, is due to the Fed printing excessive dollars out of thin air.

Since both the former and current Fed chairmen, Alan Greenspan and Ben Bernanke, kept interest rates extremely low, for too long, the housing and financial bubbles have burst. With the interest rate at almost zero; it holds merit that, if HR1207 had been in effect, that Congress would have known, and thus, would have had a chance to see and prevented the bubbles from bursting.

How is the Fed planning to decrease the dollar and credit expansion, if at all? Obviously if the Fed were to spike interest rates now, it might cause the dollar’s collapse, and yet it appears the Fed is trying to re-inflate the bubble. Printing excessive dollars got us into this mess; doing more of the same will make matters worse.

It should be a discussion of an audit as to how banks are now, in such a short time, able to pay back there bailout loans?

It was not made clear during the hearing, as to who gathers the names of candidates and who picks the Fed’s board of governors presented for appointment.

The people have a right to know, as soon as possible, how the Fed is acting in a given market. Circumstances merit they have the tools to react in the market, to protect or enlighten themselves for personal financial recovery, in real time.

I would recommend that a provision be added to HR 1207 that all Fed meetings be audio/video taped and be permanently archived.

I would also advocate that the Fed, as far as its participation as a member of the President’s Working group on Financial Markets, should be required to keep permanent, written, audio and video records for audit, and not abdicate those responsibilities to other members of the president’s group… I see no need for Congress to wait more than three to six weeks for results of a concluded audit.

To the editor:During the American Revolution of 1776, the greatest military superpower on earth at that time, Great Britain, anchored its powerful naval ships in colonial waters of Boston and New York, ordered their soldiers and targeted their guns to shore.

Confiscating the colonists’ firearms and homes at the point of gun and threat of arrest, the British redcoats’ intent was to force the people to pay taxes and submit to their will.

Those once powerful warships have been replaced with IRS offices and a standing army of homeland security. Dressed in black, carrying fully automatic weapons they descend down upon our streets, homes and conventions with brutality of force and preemptive strikes on peaceful demonstrators. Government forces with guns, teargas and tasers, unleashed, all in an attempt to force Americans to submit, adhere to dictates and pay taxes to a foreign government: Washington!
